CCCWP Fish Consumption Outreach
The Municipal Regional Stormwater Permit (MRP) requires Permittees to conduct an ongoing risk reduction program to address public health impacts of mercury and PCBs in fish within the San Francisco Bay and Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta (Delta).
Working with local and state health departments, regional parks, cities and districts, the CCCWP distributes fish consumption warning outreach material to target at-risk populations. CCCWP estimates that over 3,000 individuals are reached annually through brochure, flyer and sign outreach. Information is posted at local shorelines, harbors, fishing piers, marinas, and bait, tackle, and fishing supply stores throughout the County. In FY 2019-2020 the CCCWP updated fish consumption outreach materials throughout the County based on OEHHA’s newest recommendations.
