Water Quality Monitoring

The Contra Costa Clean Water Program conducts routine water quality monitoring and assessment in local creeks and receiving waters to the San Francisco Estuary to measure aquatic health. The Clean Water Program also conducts special studies designed to comply with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) requirements. Many types of sampling are included in water quality monitoring. Some examples are as follows: chlorine, temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, pathogens, and other pollutants of concern.

Water pollution has multiple sources. Residents can learn how to protect water quality by learning how stormwater pollution occurs here.
